WILCOX — The Kenesaw boys track and field team was on a roll at Wednesday’s Class D, District 7 meet.
The Blue Devils had nine different athletes qualify for the state meet in 10 events en route to a convincing team victory. Kenesaw tallied 125 points to take first place, while Giltner scored 75 for second. Wilcox-Hildreth was fifth with 45 points.
On the girls side, Giltner edged out Axtell for first place by scoring 92 points, three more than the Wildcats. The Hornets had eight different athletes qualify for the state meet, which begins May 23 in Omaha.
Red Cloud finished third in the team standings (65), while Wilcox-Hildreth (53) and Lawrence-Nelson (50) were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Lane Tibbs and Jeremiah Panec paced the Kenesaw boys, qualifying for four events each.
“It’s been a full year. I’ve been able to repeat in all of my events, and that was one of my biggest goals,” Tibbs said. “You get (to Omaha), you want to go back.”
