The Tiger boys placed fifth in the team standings with 44 points, while the girls were also fifth with 36 points. Papillion-La Vista won the boys district team title, while Lincoln Southwest won the girls
Overall, Hastings will be sending 11 athletes to next week’s state meet, beginning Friday at Omaha Burke.
The boys saw both of their district championships come from the throwing events. Travis Hartwig hit a personal record with a distance of 51 feet, 11 inches to win the shot put and qualify for his first state meet.
“I was pretty happy with (the mark),” Hartwig said. “I was just trying to get close to qualifying, so I’m pretty excited about it. It’s the first time I’ve hit that mark.”
