Former Tiger's career a hole-in-one

It was 45 years ago when the Hastings High boys golf team won a state championship and Jim White, one of the stars on the team, is still making his living on the course.

In 1968, the Tigers won their third state championship in nine years.

Led by White’s individual championship score of 70, which was a record at the time, Hastings won with ease, beating second-place Omaha Westside by 10 strokes.

“To come away and win as easily as we did was surprising for sure. We knew we had a chance to win, but to win by that many shots was definitely a surprise,” White said.
