OMAHA — At the state track and field meet, experience can be a huge advantage. Athletes who have competed in the meet before are often more calm and relaxed than first-timers.
For Superior's Alex Meyer, who won the Class C girls discus last year, her experience only raised expectations.
"It was almost like everyone was expecting me to do well, so there was a lot of added pressure," Meyer said.
That pressure didn't last long. Meyer said after her first throw, it was just like any other meet.
Meyer threw for a season best 149 feet, 4 inches en route to her second consecutive state championship in the girls discus.
