OMAHA — Kenesaw's Lane Tibbs knew this year's Class D state track meet was going to be a special one.

The Blue Devils distance runner qualified in four events in his senior year.

After Tibbs anchored the 3,200 relay team, which finished in fifth place Friday morning, he earned his second medal of the day by winning the 3,200-meter run at Omaha Burke.

Tibbs finished the race in 9 minutes, 58.56 seconds to repeat as the Class D 3,200 champion.

"Last year, it was probably a week later that it hit me that I was state champ. Now, I'm sitting here and I'm like, 'Yeah, I just did that again,' " Tibbs said. "Doing it once is really special, but doing it again after a down year feels a lot better."
