GRAND ISLAND — After qualifying just one golfer for the state meet last season, the Adams Central boys golf team found itself back at the state tournament Wednesday.

The Patriots struggled at Indianhead Golf Club in Grand Island, shooting a 360 to finish the first round in 12th.

Ashton Graham, who placed 21st in last year’s state meet, led Adams Central by shooting an 86, which has him in a tie for 53rd — along with teammate Darren Harpold.

Tanner Hoins finished with a 93, Samuel Lindblad shot a 95 and Garrett Sittner ended the first day with a 107.

Columbus Lakeview’s Samuel Morse led the individual competition with a 70, while Beatrice shot a 301 to finish the first round in first place by five strokes.

Graham was the first AC golfer to hit the course this morning, teeing off at 10:20.
