High School: Chase County High School in Imperial, Neb.
College and Major: Kearney State College; news-editorial
Life Before the Tribune: I didn't have a life before the Tribune.
Favorite color: Purple.
Favorite food: Anything chocolate.
Favorite (workday) drink: Diet Dr. Pepper.
If you won the lottery what would you do? Pay off my house; travel.
Do you need glasses to read? I'm practically blind without them
Your Super power? Reading people's minds.
Grrr: Omaha and Lincoln people who complain about having to travel outside their comfort area to attend events.
Wish from a Genie: Peace on earth (but hopefully I wouldn't get the kind Mulder got when he made the same wish on "The X-Files").
Best thing ever: Indoor plumbing.
Person dead or alive you'd like to interview and why? I'd say Jesus, but I'd probably be too tongue-tied to speak.
I've been working at the Tribune since I graduated from college. Ronald Reagan was serving his second term as president; the Night Stalker was captured in Los Angeles; "Back to the Future" opened in theaters; and scientists discovered the ozone hole. In other words, it's been a long time. I started as a reporter and covered about every beat there was except regional news. I became the wire editor after a few years and have been doing that ever since. I like the fact that I never know for sure what each day is going to bring.
