Former Hastings resident Sandra K. Powell, 55, now of Chadron, died Sunday, March 22, 2015, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron with Dr. Russ Seger officiating. Services will also be held on Tuesday, March 31, at 10 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Memorials may be given to the Chadron State Rodeo Club. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, P.O. Box 970, Chadron, Nebraska 69337. Visitation will be Monday, March 30, 6-8 p.m. at Butler Volland Funeral Home in Hastings, and one hour prior to service at the church on Tuesday. Internment is 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, at St. Martin Cemetery in Deweese with Father Bill Holouvek officiating. A memorial has been established for the Youth Services in Chadron. Leona E. Ruhs, 95, of Blue Hill died Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village (Perkins Pavilion) in Hastings. Services will be Monday, March 30, 2015, 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Hill with the Revs. Joshua Lowe and James Witt officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Blue Hill. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-8 p.m. with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Merten-Butler Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials can be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Shriners Hospital for Children (2025 E. River Parkway, Minneapolis, Minnesota) and Children’s Hospital and Medical Center Foundation (8200 Dodge St., Omaha, Nebraska 68114-411).
