Pollinator program Wednesday near Doniphan
DONIPHAN — The public is invited to a program near here Wednesday promoting awareness of pollinator habitats and populations in Adams and Hall counties.
The Community Pollinator Event will begin 2 p.m. at the Pioneer Hi-Bred International Seed Production Facility two miles south of Doniphan, at the corner of U.S. Highway 281 and Lepin Road.
The event involves 15 local 4-H members who are working to increase pollinator habitats and populations in the two counties. It will bring together youth and adults from throughout the area. Participants will learn how increasing biodiversity, specifically by increasing habitat for pollinators, benefits the food supply and agriculture.
Wednesday’s event is part of the 4-H Pollinator Habitat Program presented by the National 4-H Council and Corteva Agriscience. the program aims to engage youth and adults on the importance of habitat for pollinators and to establish quality pollinator habitat at about 50 sites across the United States.
Students in Hastings, Grand Island and surrounding communities will subsequently be targeted with opportunities to participate in the 4-H Pollinator Habitat Program throughout the next year.
