Hastings police are investigating a string of vandalism incidents in northwest Hastings.
Sgt. Jason Haase said several incidents were reported between Sunday and Tuesday in the area between Ninth and 13th streets around Oswego Avenue and Pershing Road.
Residents in the area have found vulgarities spray-painted on houses and streets. Broken windows also have been reported.
He said police don’t have a specific suspect yet, but have a couple people in mind.
“Enough has happened in the same general area that we’re hitting that side extra hard with patrols,” he said.
Some people have been hesitant to report the incidents, but Haase said it’s important to let police know about vandalism so the information can be added to their reports.
“We still encourage people to call so we know about it and we can go from there,” Haase said.
Although the incidents have occurred during the night shift, he said any officer can collect information to add to the investigation.
