A juvenile was stabbed by another juvenile on Friday in the 800 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to the Hastings Police Department.
Capt. Mike Doremus said the alleged victim is an employee at Russ’ Market, 611 S. Burlington Ave., and witnessed a group of juveniles shoplift some alcohol from the business at about 11 p.m.
About an hour later, the alleged victim had left work and came across the group of juveniles in the 800 block of North Lincoln Avenue. The employee confronted the group about the stolen alcohol, and one of the juveniles assaulted him and stabbed him in the upper abdomen.
Doremus said the employee went to Mary Lanning Healthcare, where a staff member called police about midnight. The boy was taken by air ambulance to a Lincoln hospital, where he was in good condition as of Tuesday morning.
Doremus said the names of the alleged victim and suspects will not be released because they are juveniles. No citations were issued or arrests made, as the matter still is under investigation.
Doremus said the parents of the involved parties have been contacted and the Hastings and Grand Island police departments are working together on the case.
