SUTTON — A 42-year-old Hastings man died in a single-vehicle crash following a police pursuit near Sutton on Friday, according to the Clay County Attorney.
The crash occurred about 7:05 p.m. Friday about two miles west of Sutton.
Clay County Attorney Ted Griess said the vehicle was driven by Daniel Traxler of Hastings and he was the only occupant in the vehicle.
Traxler reportedly was driving westbound on U.S. Highway 6 during a pursuit involving the Sutton Police Department when his vehicle went out of control and entered the north ditch.
Traxler was pronounced dead at the scene.
Griess said the Nebraska State Patrol was called in as an outside agency to investigate the crash due to the involvement of the police department, which is standard for such incidents.
