DONIPHAN — A woman died Tuesday afternoon in the single-vehicle rollover of an armored truck near Doniphan, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Department.
Amber Opp, 34, of Wood River was driving a gray 2018 Rochester armored truck northbound at about 12:52 p.m. on U.S. Highway 281 when she lost control on the wet pavement and went into the east ditch. The truck rolled and came to rest on its top. The truck went through a fence and tree before skidding to a halt just outside the Doniphan school’s track field.
Opp was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. She died at the scene.
Two passengers in the vehicle, Bridget Lewandowski and Joseph Burns, had minor injuries and were transported to CHI Health St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island. Both passengers were restrained by seat belts.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Doniphan Fire Department and Grand Island Ambulance.
