Hastings firefighters put out a vehicle fire Friday in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue.

The vehicle was reportedly stopped south of the railroad tracks between First Street and South Street waiting for a train to pass when the flames became visible from under the hood, according to Hastings Fire and Rescue.

The occupants left the vehicle and called for help about 6:13 p.m. When firefighters arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.

There were no injuries in the incident.

While an official cause hasn’t been determined, the vehicle’s owner told firefighters that there had been an accident with a deer earlier in the evening.
