Hastings firefighters put out an apartment fire Tuesday evening at 514 Lane G.

The fire destroyed the contents of the apartment, occupied by Dorothy Bauer, at about 6:30 p.m. The apartment is owned by Good Samaritan Village.

Hastings Fire Chief Kent Gilbert said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but he believes it to be accidental in nature. He said it appears to have originated in the area around the water heater.
