Police chief to be announced
Hastings' new police chief will be announced Friday during a special session of the Hastings City Council.
The meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. in the City Council Chambers, 220 N. Hastings Ave., and will be open to the public.
The four finalists are Hastings Police Department Capt. Gene Boner, Grand Island Police Department Capt. Peter Kortum, Hastings Police Department Capt. Adam Story and Litchfield, Ill., Police Chief B.J. Wilkinson.
The selection process started with a list of 27 applicants from across the nation vying to fill the position vacated in August by Larry Thoren after 14 years of service.
