morning at the school.
In a corner of the high school just off the main staircase, Hastings High School seniors waited in line this morning, some squealing like it was Christmas morning.
"It's so small," exclaimed Courtney Wright as she took her new laptop computer out of its bag.
About 100 HHS seniors will receive new Macbook Air laptop computers today as part of the school's new 1-to-1 initiative.
Hastings High principal Jay Opperman was on hand to help distribute the laptops, which he believes are key to the future of high school education in the district.
"I really, truly believe our students are going to work in an environment where they are going to pretty regularly touch some type of computer, so to use this as a learning tool, I think, is incredibly important," he said. "I think it's in line with where I think society is at and is continuing to move."
