A group of 135 Nebraska Korean War veterans took a memorable — but sometimes painful — trip down memory lane this week during an honor flight excursion to Washington, D.C.

Organized by Bill and Evonne Williams of Omaha, the trip included a dinner and ceremony Monday in Omaha before an all-day excursion Tuesday to visit the war memorials honoring fallen veterans in Washington.

Nebraska politicians who met with veterans during the event included: Gov. Dave Heineman, Congressmen Jeff Fortenberry and Adrian Smith, and Senators Deb Fischer and Mike Johanns.
