Volleyball players donate iPads to cancer center

Mikaela Shaw, a senior captain on the Sandy Creek volleyball
team, presents cancer patient Doyle McGinnis with one of
three new iPads donated to the Morrison Cancer Center
Wednesday. The team conducted fundraisers throughout
their fall season to purchase the gifts, which will be used by
patients as they wait through long treatment sessions.

The Sandy Creek High School volleyball team visited the Morrison Cancer Center in Hastings Thursday clad in pink jerseys and accessories.

And they came bearing gifts.

The girls presented patients and staff with three new iPads that will be kept in the center’s oncology and radiation areas for patients to use during and after treatment sessions.

Jaci Nore, director of the Morrison Cancer Center, said the iPads will be a welcome addition to the TVs and DVD players already installed in the treatment areas.

“Right now, patients can watch movies or TV while they’re here, but on an iPad you can do so much more. You can go online, play games, shop, check email, and do so many different things to pass the time,” Nore said.
