Planning becomes a community activity

Imagine a downtown with a vibrant entertainment district, where views of the city and live music could be enjoyed from a rooftop restaurant.

Community members dreamed big for downtown Hastings Tuesday at one of four public meetings being held by the Downtown Center Association.

About 30 people including business owners, city officials and citizens were present and shared ideas at Wednesday night’s meeting at the City Building. Meetings also were held Wednesday afternoon, this morning and at noon today.

The meetings are a requirement of a $30,000 Downtown Revitalization Community Development Block Grant the city received for planning for the future of downtown Hastings.
