Carol Engelhardt of 407 E. Sixth St. couldn’t use her sidewalk anymore.
Being bound to a wheelchair because of an amputated right leg, she couldn’t maneuver on the uneven chunks of cracked concrete. She didn’t have enough money to pay for repairing the sidewalk.
She worried that someone would fall and she would be held responsible. The sidewalk created such a hazard that Meals on Wheels nearly had to stop delivering food for Engelhardt.
All that changed last week after the American Legion Post 11 removed the old sidewalk remains and installed new concrete.
