Faces of Tribland: Carly Kleier

Carly Kleier of Kenesaw rides a horse led by her
grandfather, Jim Jirkovsky of Kearney, during the Nebraska
State Fair in Grand Island in August 2011. At age 2, it was
the second time Carly had competed in a horse showing
event.

KENESAW — Despite living in town here, Carly Kleier has started to follow in her mother's footsteps on the back of a horse.

The 3-year-old loves spending time on her grandfather's ranch, helping work the chutes as her maternal grandfather, Jim Jirkovsky of Kearney, moves livestock. She's been on horseback with her grandfather when he was out roping.

Carly has loved being in the barn with her grandfather nearly all her life. Her first horse ride was at 3 months of age.
