DESHLER — A 19-year-old Deshler man was found dead here early Saturday morning, apparently after falling from an old water tower, the Thayer County Sheriff's Office reported.
Sheriff David Lee said his office received an emergency call about 6:10 a.m. concerning a body being found at the base of an unused water tower near the old Deshler Broom Factory.
Authorities identified the victim as Taylor D. HorseChief, a 2011 graduate of Deshler High School.
HorseChief was pronounced dead at the scene. Now, officials are trying to determine exactly what had transpired there.
"There is an ongoing investigation as to the cause and manner of his death," Lee said this morning. "At this time, we believe his death was caused by a fall."
