KEARNEY — “Holding on the offense. Penalty denied. Game is over.”
Those were the words that signaled the end of the season for the Silver Lake Mustangs as their fans erupted into screams, cheers and even a few tears.
Hundreds of fans from Adams, Franklin and Webster counties turned out Friday night as the Mustangs defeated the Hyannis Longhorns 47-46 in the 6-Man Coaches Association’s Championship game at Foster Field on the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus.
