Cancer survivor joins fight against disease


Andrea Schropfer, a breast cancer survivor, is the luminaria
chairwoman for the Adams County Relay for Life.

When Andrea Schropfer went in for her second mammogram at age 41, things weren't so routine.

An ultrasound followed by a biopsy confirmed doctors' suspicions: It was cancer.

"I didn't even feel a lump," she said.

That was in October 2007. Within the next few months, Schropfer, who works in program support at Hastings Head Start, underwent a lumpectomy followed by seven weeks of radiation therapy.
