Cornhusker football fans watching Friday’s game vs. Iowa at Hastings Keno Sports Bar and Grill were banking on another end-of-the game comeback in the second half. And they got one, though some wondered if the 13-7 victory should have been as close as it was.
Trailing 7-3 at the half, Nebraska struck for 10 unanswered points in the third quarter — courtesy of a 52-yard field goal from Brett Maher and 3-yard touchdown run by Rex Burkhead — to finish 10-2 overall and 7-1 in Big 10 play. Iowa slipped to 4-8 overall and 2-6 in Big 10 play.
With the win, Nebraska secured a first-place finish in the Legends Division. But in a state where winning is expected, there were still plenty of armchair quarterbacks at HK who were less than complimentary of how the Huskers went about securing their championship crown.
