AGP finalizing plans for $100 million expansion

In a few years, Ag Processing Inc. will be increasing its already substantial contribution to Hastings and Adams County utilities and property tax values with a proposed $100 million expansion of its soy processing facility in Hastings, should an agreement with city and utility officials be finalized this week.

At the regular meeting of the Hastings City Council Monday, the council met in closed session to discuss a proposed economic development agreement with AGP, which will bring substantial increases in employment and industry to the community.

Dave Rippe, executive director of the Hastings Economic Development Corp., presented the details of AGP's expansion and the city's role in the project, which have been in the works since earlier this fall.
