JUNIATA — A house fire that sent one 14-year-old girl and one firefighter to the hospital early this morning rekindled about eight hours later, bringing firefighters from Hastings Fire Department and Juniata Volunteer Fire Department back to the scene to finish extinguishing it.

The fire at 309 W. Ninth St. was being investigated by fire marshals this morning when it reignited, said Mark Morgan, Juniata fire district chief. The initial fire was called in just after 1:15 a.m., he said. Stephanie Steuck and her three children living there got out of the house before it became fully engulfed.

The injured girl, whose name was not given, sustained burns to her feet, according to the Hastings Fire Department report, and was transported by ambulance to Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.
