Silver Lake eliminated in semis

HARRISON — The Silver Lake football team saw its season come to an end Friday, falling at Sioux County 48-35 in the six-man semifinals.

Journey Ericsson led the way for the Mustangs (8-2), rushing for 141 yards on 26 attempts and scoring three touchdowns. Quarterback Seyler Monroe threw for 144 yards while tacking on 91 yards on the ground. Monroe completed 12 passes, but was intercepted three times.

Jonny Dunn was the main source of offense for Sioux County (9-1), racking up 233 yards on the ground and scoring three times. Quarterback Garret Gray complete only three passes, but two of them were for touchdowns. One was a 31-yard pass to Josh Kling, and the other a 55-yard pass to Phillip Parker. Both came in the first quarter and gave the Warriors a 16-7 advantage going into the second.

The Mustangs scored twice in the second to go into halftime down only three, but Sioux County scored two quick touchdowns in the third quarter to increase its lead to 40-21. The Warriors held on to advance to the championship.
