Hastings High third in GNAC tourney

After losing a close semifinals match against Norfolk, Hastings High was disappointed it did not make the championship of the Greater Nebraska Athletic Conference tournament.

But Hastings gathered itself and took care of business in the third-place match, defeating Columbus 25-16, 25-22.

"Obviously, you're not playing for the championship when you want to. But, in the big picture, this game doesn't matter other than getting power points and positioning ourselves for (districts)," said Hastings High coach Dave Hepner. "Against Columbus, we had already beat them twice, so we knew we could do it again. But to win 2-0 was a nice thing."
