Silver Lake is making its first trip to the state volleyball tournament in 13 years, and the Mustangs are hoping to get plenty of fan support to celebrate that feat.
Silver Lake (23-7) earned the No. 8 seed and will open play in the Class D-1 tournament 8:30 p.m. Thursday against top-seeded Guardian Angels Central Catholic (28-4) at Grand Island Northwest.
It’s not exactly the best draw, but Silver Lake head coach Stacie Heldt is reminding her team that there is a reason the Mustangs are at state.
They’ve faced adversity, rebounded and excelled this season. That might be the exact thing the Mustangs will have to do to upset the Bluejays.
