BLADEN — For the first time in Silver Lake school history, the Mustangs will play for the Nebraska 6-Man state championship.
The No. 1 seeded Mustangs defeated the Cody-Kilgore Cowboys 44-12 on Friday in the state semifinals. Silver Lake (10-0) will face Hyannis next Friday at UNK for the championship.
Silver Lake had everything going for them early and often. The Mustangs took the opening kick and immediately drove down the field. A six-play, 49-yard drive was capped off by a Journey Ericsson 1-yard touchdown run giving the home team a 6-0 lead with 8:08 left in the first quarter.
