Doane upsets HC in GPAC tourney

Hastings College's Jennifer Klaudt blocks against Doane
College's Breanna Fye Saturday night at Lynn Farrell Arena.

Having already beaten Doane twice this season — including a five-set win three days prior to Saturday's rematch in the GPAC tournament quarterfinals — the Hastings College volleyball team faced the tough task of trying to beat the same team three times in one season.

The No. 6-seeded Tigers wouldn't let that happen.

Doane (16-17, 7-10) earned a 25-17, 14-25, 25-23, 25-22 upset win at Lynn Farrell Arena. The loss may have ended HC's (21-12, 12-5) season, as a lot of things need to go its way for a national tournament berth to be a possibility.

"(Doane) was more aggressive than us," said HC head coach Matt Buttermore.
