It’s been quite the year for the Bruning-Davenport/Shickley volleyball team. The Eagles’ 28 wins is the most since the two programs joined forces in 2010. BDS won the district championship for the first time, and qualified for the state tournament for the second time in three years.
There’s no doubt it’s been a memorable season, especially for the five BDS seniors, who were the first freshman class of the co-op.
“With five seniors on our team this year, we’ve got a good nucleus for leadership roles, and they all have different roles on our team and have accepted those roles,” said BDS coach Dan Sorge. “It’s made our team a lot stronger throughout the year.”
Bruning-Davenport/Shickley will take on seventh-seeded Brady (23-6) to open the state tournament Thursday.
