Rock Hills sets sights on title

MANKATO, Kan. — It’s been an impressive season for the Rock Hills football team out of Mankato, Kan.

With an 11-1 record, the Grizzlies would claim the school’s first state championship with a win Saturday against Ness City in the 8-Man, Division I finals at Fischer Field in Newton, Kan.
The Grizzlies playoff run has been one to admire. After cruising past Peabody-Burns (6-4) in the first round 72-26, Rock Hills took on then-undefeated Moran-Marmaton Valley (10-1). The Grizzlies scored 78 points to win by 30.

In the semifinals, Rock Hills was matched up with Madison/Hamilton, the defending state champions and the team that knocked the Grizzlies out of last year’s playoffs. Rock Hills won the game 36-20 and racked up 291 yards rushing.
