HC overcomes second-half deficit against Midland

FREMONT — The Hastings College women's basketball team had to come from behind to beat Midland 55-51 on Tuesday for Carrie Hofstetter's first conference win as HC's head coach.

The NAIA No. 18 Broncos trailed Midland by nine in the second half, but a 23-10 run sparked the Hastings College comeback.

Freshman Chelsey Morten and senior Brittney Wong led HC with 19 points each. Midland was led by Taylor Shepard, who finished with 21 points and eight rebounds.

HC improved its record to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in GPAC play, while Midland dropped to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference. The Broncos return to the court Friday to take on York (1-7) at 6 p.m. at the Lynn Farrell Arena. Hastings College will also host Sterling (3-4) on Saturday at 6 p.m. HC returns to conference play Nov. 28 when it hosts Doane.
