Hastings College's Dylan Flynn shoots against Bethel
College's Aaron Benton Friday at Lynn Farrell Arena.
The hot start continues for the Hastings College men's basketball team, which is off to its best start since the 2007-2008 season, when it started 15-0.
Hastings College improved to 7-1 with a convincing 99-74 win over Bethel in the Hastings College Thanksgiving Classic on Friday. The Broncos trailed 46-42, but exploded in the second half thanks to a 23-5 run in the first 6:02 after halftime.
"Well, it was just a matter of pride — individual pride — in our defense. I think the biggest thing that we did was we weren't very disciplined (in the first half), and that was our focus going in," said Hastings College head coach Lance Creech. "We decided to kind of refocus and get our guys in a stance and make sure we close out with high hands and play more physical on the drive. We just gave up way too many easy shots in the first half, and we just can't do that, especially heading into league play."
