It may not have been the prettiest of wins, but it’s a victory nonetheless.
The Hastings College men’s basketball team held off NAIA Division I opponent Graceland (Iowa) 79-68 Saturday in the Broncos’ final game of its Thanksgiving Classic at Lynn Farrell Arena. HC head coach Lance Creech said he’ll take the win despite his team not playing as well as it should have.
“Well, we weren’t exactly sharp, and I think when you’re coming off a two-day classic and you have a lot of games in a short period of time — this is our third game in about five days — things get a little chippy,” said Creech, whose Broncos also downed Bethel 99-74 Friday. “When the ball doesn’t go in the hole, you get frustrated, and we probably didn’t handle that the best. At the same time, I’m proud of the kids for playing with some resilience.”
Hastings College found balance in its scoring with four players recording 12 or more points. Brady Lollman scored a team-high 13 points, while fellow starter Jake Hamburger recorded 12. Dylan Flinn and Zach Lenagh also put up 12 for HC coming off the bench.
