Broncos post 71-55 win over Tigers

It’s hard to gauge how far along the No. 25 Hastings College women’s basketball team is to figuring out the new scheme brought in by new head coach Carrie Hofstetter.

Against rival Doane College Wednesday night at Lynn Farrell Arena, the Bronco defense showed more signs of improvement. The offense, after a shaky start, improved some as well.

The result was a 71-55 victory — HC’s fourth straight win — over the Tigers that improved Hastings to 6-4 overall and 2-1 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

But Hofstetter wasn’t overly pleased with her team’s performance Wednesday.

“Tonight was a little bit different than the last couple games,” the coach said. “I thought in the last couple of games, we stayed active. When the play blew up, we still were able to make some cuts — and we were just active enough to keep the ball moving. Today, I thought we were a little bit more stagnant. I thought we stood around, and just watched — especially at the end of the shot clock.”
