HC volleyball advances via tiebreaker

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — It was a wild third night of the NAIA national volleyball tournament for Hastings College at the Tyson Events Center.

When it was all said and done, a little before midnight Thursday, the No. 8 Broncos were one of 12 teams to advance to today’s single-elimination portion of the tournament.

“It was crazy,” HC first-year head coach Matt Buttermore said. “It was a lot of fun. We had a good crowd there, so that was pretty neat. Just amazing.”

They faced No. 9 Lee (Tenn.) this morning. The match was still going on at press time.

It took a miraculous effort from HC to get to today’s action.

The Broncos were swept by No. 5 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) 25-18, 25-16, 25-23 in a match that started at 8 p.m. But HC would get another shot at the Eagles.
