Hastings, Nebraska, resident Alice Louise Krueger, 93, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2020, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.

Graveside service is 9:30 a.m. Saturday, January 18, at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday, January 18, at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation. Book signing will be one hour prior to service at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be given to the family or First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.

Alice was born on August 5, 1926, in Bladen, Nebraska, to Robert and Emma (Kranau) Schlichtman. She was baptized August 29, 1926 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, and later confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Blue Hill, Nebraska.

Alice attended Cloverton School north of Bladen and graduated from high school in 1943. She then taught school at Cloverton school for four years. Alice married Melvin C. Krueger on December 22, 1946 in Blue Hill. They moved from Wolbach, Nebraska, to Hastings in 1949. Melvin preceded her in death on February 4, 2007.

Alice worked as a teacher, homemaker, and as a seamstress at Mode O’Day. She was a member at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was very active. Alice was a past President of Denver Region Burlington Northern Santa Fe Veterans and den mother for Cub Scout Pack #207. She was a very skilled and talented woman, mother, and grandmother. While she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and sewing, Alice loved spending time with all of her family, camping, boating, and fishing.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin C. Krueger; daughter-in-law, Amy Krueger; grandson, Andrew Krueger; brother and wife, Ervin and LaVern Schlichtman; and sister, Dorothy Schlichtman.

Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Debra Krueger of Omaha, Tom Krueger of Hastings, and Brad Krueger of Muscatine, Iowa; grandchildren and spouses, Carrie and Andris Didrichsons of Lincoln, Ed and Alisa Krueger of Omaha, Cassie Krueger of Moline, Ilinois, Katie Krueger and Danny Vogt of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Carly and Kurt Montgomery of Ankeny, Iowa, Adam and Jen Krueger of Lincoln, Mary Krueger of Omaha; and eight great-grandchildren.
