Ord, Nebraska, resident Cory D. “Fuz” Powell, 47, passed away Friday, January 24, 2020, at Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul, Nebraska, with his family by his side.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday, January 31, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Pastor Andrea Paulson officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday with family present, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Tami Sohrweid for a memorial to be established at a later date. Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Cory was born on May 10, 1972, in Hastings, Nebraska to Lonnie and Janet (Kirby) Powell. He attended Hastings High School and graduated in 1990. Cory worked for Powell Tower Maintenance as a tower climber. Cory also owned and operated Powell Heating & Air. Cory enjoyed riding three-wheelers and woodworking. Cory married Tami Sohrweid on October 31, 2015.
Cory was preceded in death by his dad, Lonnie; half-brother, Troy Fox; grandparents, Iral and Dorothy Powell and Rosie Edwards.
Survivors include wife, Tami Sohrweid of Ord; children, Aaron Powell of Omaha, Ethan Sohrweid of Ord, and Loni Powell of Ord; mother, Janet Powell of Hastings; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
