David Ralph Fergus, 70, of Lawrence, Nebraska, died July 3, 2019, at Holmes Lake Rehabilitation and Care Center in Lincoln from complications due to heart failure.
David was born on Aug. 7, 1948, and grew up in Hastings, Nebraska. He was one of seven children born to Ralph and Lucille (Arterburn) Fergus. David was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served two tours and earned several medals, including the Purple Heart.
David is survived by his ex-wife, Marsha Utecht; and his two sons, Jason “Jay” (Sarah) Fergus and Jonathan Fergus. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Zachary Fergus, Samantha Fergus, Macoy Fergus and Emersyn Fergus; two great-grandchildren, Riley Sears and Abbygael Friedrichsen; four siblings, Susan (Stanley) Blincow, Richard Fergus, Bryan Fergus and Katherine Fergus; and many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Stephen and Jerald; niece, Michelle; and nephew, Nicholas.
A wake will be held for close friends and family to celebrate his life.
