Nelson, Nebraska, resident Donald J. McCartney, 77, passed away Aug. 8, 2019, in Geneva, Nebraska.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at Community United Church of Christ in Nelson with Pastors Ivan and Joyce Dean officiating. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 7-8 p.m. at the Klawitter-Price Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Smith County, Kansas. Memorials may go to Nelson Fire Department or the Nelson Community United Church of Christ. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home in Nelson is in charge of arrangements.
Donald was born Dec. 24, 1941, in Smith County, Kansas, to George McCartney and Berniece (Delka) McCartney. He married Barbara Wilmot on June 2, 1962, in Red Cloud, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert "Bob" and Paul Edward McCartney; two sisters-in-law, Ruth McCartney and Thelma Wilmot; brothers-in-law, Wilbur Reibold and Ivan Wilmot; niece, Joan McCartney; and nephew, Roger Wilmot.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Nelson; daughters, Theresa (Kevin) Hurt of Juniata and Julie (Mark) McDonald; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Lloyd (Mary Ann) McCartney of Hastings and Darrel (Donna) McCartney of Inland; sisters, Mary Jane Reibold of Red Cloud and Linda (John) Biltoft of Nelson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
