LaDonna Ellene Simonton, age 74, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family following a long battle with cancer on Sunday, May 5, 2019.
Service will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Campbell, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Diehl officiating. Burial will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Campbell. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019 with family present from 5-7 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Home in Campbell, and one hour prior to service at the church. A memorial has been established to be designated at a later date. Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.mertenbutlermortuary.com. LaDonna was born to Albert and Gladys (Gifford) Morgan on Dec. 15, 1944 in her grandmother's home in Kearney County. She graduated from Campbell High in 1963 then attended and graduated from Hastings Beauty Academy in 1964. It was at this time she met the love of her life and joined in marriage to C. Dean Simonton on March 21, 1964. Together they lived in Lincoln and worked at Goodyear but when ready to begin their family they called the country north of Campbell their home. They have lived 50 years at this residence and spent a lifetime building memories. While on the farm not only did she raise 5 children and assist on the farm but she also had her own LaDonna's Farmette Salon, partnered with Dean with the aerial applicating business starting in 1981 and even bought her husband a birthday present where he could play all the snooker he desired in 2000. (The year she purchased The Campbell Tavern).
LaDonna was baptized, confirmed and married in the same Presbyterian Church, as was each of her children.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, C. Dean Simonton of Campbell, and their children Cody and Kristin Simonton of Upland, Corenna and Michael Iverson of Columbus, Crystal Simonton and John Graf of Campbell, and Cindy and Brandon Smith of Manhattan, Kansas; sister, Gwen and her husband, Burdette Jameson of Upland, Cary and Terry Brown of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Faye Bonin of Grafton; grandchildren, Katlyn Simonton of Hastings, Brooke Simonton of Campbell, Blaine Simonton of Upland, Joshua and Andrea Bakenhus of Elkhorn, Jacob and Shelby Bakenhus of St. Ed, Morgan Iverson of Norfolk, Sara, Samuel, Mason, Shirley and Carter Graf of Campbell, Adriana, Clinton, Hazel, Charlotte Smith of Manhattan, Kansas; along with many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was proceeded in death by their son, Clinton Albert Simonton; her parents, Albert and Gladys Morgan; infant sister, Beulah Mae Morgan; in-laws, Clinton and Sadie Simonton; brothers-in-law, Howard Simonton, Merlin Simonton, and Elmer Bonin; and nieces, Sherry Fox and Debbie Bonin.
