Larry Lee Kort, 82, of Ayr passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 27, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Hill with Pastor Leah Krotz officiating. Burial will be in Blue Hill Cemetery in Blue Hill.
Visitation is 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Merten-Butler Mortuary and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials can be directed to the Church. Larry was born on March 8, 1937, to Clarence and Mary (Mohlman) Kort. He received his education at a rural school and graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1955.
In 1956, he graduated from Telegraph School in Milford. He began working for Burlington Northern Railroad in several different locations in Nebraska where he met his wife of 62 years Patricia I. McCool. They were united in marriage on December 8, 1957. He then returned to Blue Hill to farm with his father and brother, Jerry Kort. Larry loved to camp and fish. He also enjoyed working on old tractors, which he restored. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
This union was blessed with four sons, Mike (Nancy) Kort of Blue Hill, Ken Kort of Blue Hill, Kevin (Donna) Kort of Blue Hill, and Lonnie (Carrie) Kort of Blue Hill; three daughters, Peggy (Ron) Meyer of Hastings, Pam (Heath) Arterburn of Blue Hill, and Jessica Alber of Blue Hill; very close nephew, Randy Kort and his family; 21 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brother; Jerry Kort.
