Hastings, Nebraska, resident LuAnn L. Bye, 75, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday, September 9, at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Visitation is 1-5 p.m. Sunday with family present 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.
LuAnn was born December 10, 1943, in Minden, Nebraska to Burton and Edith (Quadhamer) Vannier. She lived in Hildreth 1943-1955, Holdrege 1955-1956, and Hastings 1956-present. LuAnn graduated from Hastings High School in 1962 and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 1962-1963. She married Bill Bye on June 23, 1963; divorced January 29, 1986. Two daughters were born to this marriage.
LuAnn worked for Hastings Tribune, July 1963-November 1967; Kansas Nebraska Gas, July 1970-November 1973; Hastings Welding, August 1976-July 1983; and 30 years for State of Nebraska Vocational Rehabilitation, October 1983-July 2013. She was a member of First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
LuAnn enjoyed being with her daughters and their families, siblings, and cousins. She took great pride in her grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events and picking them up from school.
LuAnn was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include daughters and spouses, Debbie and Jeff Gerloff of Juniata, and Christy and Stan Hoffmeyer of Trumbull; grandchildren, Shelby Gerloff, Cody Gerloff, Alivia Gerloff, Chad Hoffmeyer, Audra Fleming, and Farrah Hoffmeyer; siblings and spouses, Lyle and Joyce Vannier of Lincoln, and VerJean and Jack McKimmy of Lincoln; and many other family members.
