Former Hastings resident Dr. Nathan Ernest Bruce of Omaha, Nebraska died Friday, Jan. 17, 2020, at his home of a heart attack.
A memorial service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the West Center Chapel, 7805 West Center Road, in Omaha. Heafey-Hoffman-Dworak-Cutler Mortuaries and Crematory is handling arrangements. Memorials will be directed by the family.
Dr. Bruce was born Aug. 21, 1982, to Doug and Donna Bruce in Alliance.
He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota. He then enrolled at Des Moines University School of Medicine. After completion, his residency in psychiatry was done at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He was employed at Community Alliance in Omaha.
Nathan was an exceptional listener without judging. He was unique as a psychiatrist in counseling individuals through their emotional and mental troubles along with prescribing medications to help them.
Survivors include his wife, Marin J. Broucek; son, Camden D. Bruce; parents, Donna and Doug; brothers, Michael (Tera) and David (Sonya); nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Janice McKenney and Willard Broucek.
