Juniata, Nebraska, resident Novella E. Brooks, 78, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Bryan LGH West Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Services will be Tuesday, September 3, at 11 a.m. at the Juniata Community Church in Juniata with the Rev. Tom Murray officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery next to her husband Rolland. Book signing will be Tuesday, September 3, one hour prior to the memorial service at Juniata Community Church in Juniata. Apfel Funeral Home in Hastings is in care of the family. Novella was born in Hastings, Nebraska, on August 9, 1941 to Floyd and Evelyn (Gerloff) Andersen. She graduated from Juniata High School. Novella married Rolland Brooks on August 30, 1959 at the Juniata Community Church in Juniata. With this union they had three sons, Marty, Brian, and Kenny. Novella was a homemaker. She worked for Midwest Distributing Company, Andy’s Café as a cook, and when her husband Rolland retired, they were school bus drivers for District #29 Juniata/Wallace/Adams Central, and drove the Adams County Senior Services Handi Bus until Rolland passed away December 22, 2012.
She was a member of the Juniata Community Church and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed sewing her children’s clothing when they were younger. She also enjoyed cooking, puzzles, and coloring.
Novella was preceded in death by her parents; and infant son, Gene Allen Brooks.
She is survived by sons and spouses, Martin Brooks of Columbus, Nebraska, Brian and Rosa Maria Brooks of Juniata, Kenneth Brooks of Juniata; special family friend, Julie Moffre; grandchildren, Matthew Hartman, Dustin Franklin, Lindsay Brooks, Paris Brooks, Emily Brooks, Jennifer Moffre, Jamie Moffre, Ricardo Villegas, and Andreas Villegas; great-grandchildren, Aubree, Autumn, Abby, Sabastian, Ashlee, and Bradly; stepgreat-grandchildren, D'Anthony, Michael, and Miya; sisters and spouses, Rosella and Cliffard Mays of Hastings, and Melva Stilson; brothers and spouses, Nels and Joan Andersen of Hastings, Melvin and Ann Andersen of Juniata, and Edwin and Charlotte Andersen of Mesa, Arizona.
