Ronald Z. “Ron” Koger, 70, died Monday, September 16, 2019, at Country House Memory Care Facility in Lincoln. He passed away peacefully after a long, courageous battle with Pick’s Disease.
Ron was born April 13, 1949, in Hastings, Nebraska, the son of Zane and Helen (Ehrman) Koger. He grew up in Ayr, Nebraska and moved to Hastings where he worked at Metz Bakery before starting Koger Auto Repair. He was blessed to find his soul mate when he married Shirley Berg on May 16, 1986. After 20 years of repairing automobiles he switched careers and farmed near Hastings until forced to retire when diagnosed with Pick’s. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Lincoln and regularly attended.
Ron loved to tinker in the shop with a goal of rebuilding old tractors and trucks. He also loved taking road trips on his motorcycle for coffee or to go “junkin” for scrap metal or antiques.
